IAU OAE Astronomy Teacher Training Workshop - Application Deadline Extended

We are pleased to announce that we received huge number of workshop applications from Government, NGO, private, welfare, trust, foundation and society schools. 

On the request of schools the workshop application deadline has been extended till November 30, 2022. 

We are committed to building a diversified cohort of teachers who are eager to learn new things and committed to pass on the new knowledge. 

As the number of applications received far exceeded the available number of seats. The selection of participants will be on competitive basis.

This workshop is endorsed by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and fully supported by the IAU Office of Astronomy Education (OAE).

IAU OAE Astronomy Teacher Training Workshop, Karachi, Pakistan

The IAU OAE Astronomy Teacher Training Workshop will take place on the December 6-7, 2022. This workshop is organized by Institute of Space Science and Technology, University of Karachi,  at astronomical observatory of university of Karachi. This workshop is aimed to address the dire need to prepare the science teachers in order to impart astronomy knowledge to young minds. This workshop targets primary and secondary school science teachers to supplement their teaching in science by teaching them basic Astronomy from the experts so that science teachers can teach Astronomy effectively in the science courses. The workshop is committed to building a diversified teacher cohort and strongly encourages applications from female teachers, and teachers from underprivileged and NGO schools.

To attend this workshop you don't need to know anything about Astronomy yet; you just need to be excited to learn!  Here's a partial list of some of the things we planned for you: 

• Topics to be covered: solar system and  beyond

• Special sessions on Astronomy for All and Astronomy in Pakistan
